How scoring works
Every score is out of 10, in steps of 0.5. Each category is weighted and combined into a single overall score, which is what you'll see on review cards and in the rankings.
Roll overall
| Category | Weight | What it means |
|---|---|---|
| Bacon | 40% | How well the bacon itself is cooked — crisp edges, proper thickness, seasoning. |
| Bread | 25% | The bap or bun: texture, freshness, and whether it holds the filling without falling apart. |
| Sauce | 15% | Whether brown sauce, ketchup, or whatever is offered suits the roll, and is applied well. |
| Value | 20% | Whether the price matches the quality and portion. |
Coffee overall
| Category | Weight | What it means |
|---|---|---|
| Taste | 45% | The coffee itself — balance, bitterness, and how the beans come through. |
| Temperature | 15% | Served at a proper drinking temperature, not lukewarm or scalding. |
| Texture | 20% | Milk texture and crema — smooth, well-integrated, not thin or separated. |
| Value | 20% | Whether the price matches the quality and portion. |
Combo score
When a review rates both a roll and a coffee, the combo score is the mean of the two overalls (both already rounded), so you can check the arithmetic against the numbers shown on the page.
Rounding and ties
Overalls are rounded to one decimal place, round-half-up (so 7.25 rounds to 7.3, not 7.2). Rankings use standard competition ranking — if two places tie, they share the same rank and the next rank skips ahead (1, 1, 3, not 1, 1, 2).
Revisits and closures
If a place has been reviewed more than once, rankings and the map use only the most recent review. Older reviews stay published and link forward to the newer one. Places marked as closed are shown with a badge but excluded from rankings.
