Kettle & Crumb sits just off the main drag in Leith, with a handful of outdoor tables that fill up fast on a sunny morning. The bacon roll is the headline act here: thick-cut smoked back bacon, cooked until the edges properly crisp, packed into a floury bap that’s soft enough to bite through without collapsing.
Brown sauce comes on the side rather than pre-applied, which is the correct way to do it. The sauce itself is a decent supermarket own-brand rather than anything artisanal, but it does the job.
The flat white was well-pulled with a good crema, but arrived noticeably cooler than it should have been — possibly sat waiting for the roll to finish. Worth asking for it last if you’re ordering both.
